STEP ONE — Baseline Buffer & Hazard Buffer (Side-to-Side Target Safety Adjustment)
Buffer = extra left/right safety margin added to your target line
so that even offline shots stay safe around the green.
This step protects the player from side-to-side dispersion
not distance.
It does not affect yardage — only target-side aim.
A. Baseline Buffer (always applied — side-to-side only)
Baseline Buffer gives built-in safety for your normal left/right miss.
Baseline Buffer = 5% of the distance to the flag (converted to sideways safety margin)
This represents the typical side dispersion pattern based on shot length.
Example:
100m shot - 5% buffer = 5m to each side from the flag
Purpose:
Ensures the target line is never aimed too close to trouble on either side.
B. Hazard Buffer (extra side-to-side margin when hazards exist)
These buffers protect from directional hazards left or right of the green.
This is side-to-side only —
no distance effect.
