1. Section - Understanding Your Shot Pattern

What Is a Shot Pattern?

Every golfer, from beginner to tour professional, has a unique shot pattern.
shot pattern is the natural dispersion area where your golf shots tend to finish, relative to your intended target.
No matter how consistent your swing feels, every shot you hit will vary slightly in direction (left or right) and in distance (short or long). When you plot a group of your shots on a map or launch monitor, they don’t form a single point — they form a cluster. That cluster is your shot pattern.

💡
Think of it like a fingerprint for your ball flight — it reflects:
  • Your swing tendencies (fade, draw, push, pull)
  • Your strike quality
  • Your setup and alignment
  • And even your confidence level with a particular club

For example, if you hit 30 drives on the same target line and most finish between 270–290 yards, with a 40-yard wide spread and a slight bias to the right side, that is your driver shot pattern.
Every club in your bag — from driver to wedge — has its own shot pattern.
The key is not to eliminate dispersion (that’s impossible), but to understand it so you can make smarter, more confident decisions on the golf course.
