Identify all visible trouble

Look carefully down the hole and spot anything that can cause a penalty or a difficult recovery.
This includes:
  • Fairway and greenside bunkers
  • Water hazards and penalty areas
  • Out of Bounds (OB) markers
  • Trees or wooded areas
  • Light or heavy rough
  • Slopes or collection zones that feed the ball away from the fairway
  • Tight landing zones or narrow sections of the hole
👉 The more clearly you see the hazards, the easier it is to plan around them.
